ARTHUR HAMILTON's songs have been
performed by Dinah Washington, Harry Connick Jr., Barbara Streisand,
Johnny Mathis, Ray Charles, Ella Fitzgerald, and countless others.
His professional break came through
the movie "Pete Kelly's Blues." Hamilton contributed three songs
for that film, "Sing A Rainbow" and "He Needs Me,"
both performed by Peggy Lee in the film, and "Cry Me a
River" which was dropped from the film's soundtrack.
Arthur Hamilton had formal piano
training from the time he was 7 until he was 15; he also studied music
theory and counterpoint. Other
than Glee Club in Junior High School, he was not involved in any school
music program. He was born into a family of musicians, but he
believes music in the schools is incredibly important, both musically and
sociologically. He is now deeply involved in the effort to return music to
the classroom on a national basis.
