FREDERIC GOOSSEN  

FREDERIC GOOSSEN (born in St. Cloud in 1927) earned a Ph.D. in composition from University of Minnesota.  He was also a private student of composer Arthur Shepherd and theorist Melville Smith at the Longy School of Music.

Goossen composed over 100 works in a variety of genres, many of which have been recorded.

After teaching at University of Minnesota and Berea College (KY), Mr. Goossen joined the faculty of of University of Alabama where he remained as Professor of Composition and Director of Graduate Studies until retiring as Professor Emeritus.
